This site is dedicated to answer the questions I have been asked during the job hunting consultation sessions I had. There are not theories but derived from my personal direct experience or the feedback from people I have coached with their job search.

We are contrarian job hunters and what it means is that we do the complete opposite of the majority job hunters do for job searching.

When the majority of all job hunters are searching for the job online, then we go offline
When the majority of all job hunters are sending massive emails randomly to the prospect employers, then we are sending snail mail with laser targeted focus on most promising industry segment
When the majority of all job hunters are posting the resume on the job listing site and site beside the telephone and waiting for employer to call, then we are picking up the telephone and make calls to prospect employers to find unadvertised job opportunities
When the majority of all job hunters are afraid of talking to anybody about their challenge of unemployment, we are building the team, networking with our social connections and getting a lot of referrals

What makes a high difference in our job search result?

The majority of all job hunters don’t take the time to learn the life-long skill of job searching and look for a job by him/herself, end up to give it up too early. They want to find a job now. They just can’t find a job. We take time to think through the process of job hunting, follow a proven job hunting system and constantly find more job openings than one can take with a successful winning team.

Unfortunately there isn’t any magic pill in the job hunting, only fools hope to swallow and then employment issue will go away.

It takes determination, commitment, and creativity to make it happen.

Job Security

We really own the job security not because the employer has offered me the guarantee on paper or in the contract. Not at all. I own it because I have mastered the art of job hunting, I am confident with the proven and tested system, I am able to find the next job in any market at any time when and if I want to do just that.

For most of you, please wake up, there isn’t job security any more on the planet as we are going to the process of globalization. The market is not dead but just has been changing so fast and so dramatic so each every one of us must learn how to survive in this environment by mastering the art of job search.

There isn’t second place for finding a job. Either you get it or you are starving.

If you think it is too much for you to learn, and then please go back to your telephone. I really hope one of those days, someone will call you and offer a job to you. Then good luck.

Common misconceptions

There isn’t any job because you can’t find a job online for good 3 months.

That is a big mistake you can make, the visible job market only represents 20% of all jobs. In the meantime, we have hit the home run with direct mailing again and again in the rest of 80% of job market so called the hidden job market. I used this method twice at the beginning of my career. I have found the first job in 6 weeks with 129 contacts; the second job in 9 days. It is a job close to my home, bonus!

Networking is dead.

I have referred so many people for their jobs. One of my elementary schoolmate, after I got him the first job in Canada, he changed job two more times all by referrals. He doesn’t even know what the online job market is. Yesterday, I got a call when I am driving downtown from one of my ex-coworker, he just landed his job after massive layoff from ex-employer, through referral. Tell me it is dead. No way.

Cold calling is B.S.

Well, if you are calling everyone on YellowPages, and try to sell yourself on the phone for the job in one shot then of course it isn’t working.

We are not professional sales people and telephone selling is a career by itself. What we do is to use 2-step calling strategy so we turn the cold call to warm up call. It worked like a charm.

No company is hiring at all

There is 4% natural downsizing in any business large or small. You just have to work hard to identify the opportunities before other job applicant even hear a word about it.
